On June 25th, our Zoom meeting (Town Hall) for the Chinook Winds Region, included a presentation from Janet Gear, Professor of Public and Pastoral Leadership and Director of United Church Formation at Vancouver School of Theology.
Janet focused on what, exactly, people are missing about the church; recognizing for different people it's different things that engage them with the purpose of the church in the first place.  Thus, endeavouring to continue to be leaders during these times of being together apart is to be mindful of the pastoral, prophetic, preaching, praying, proclamation threads that weave together what it is to be the church today and always.
I commend this recorded version of the same presentation (one she offered to the Pacific Mountain Region earlier this month). The first 45 minutes of this recording is where Janet shares her teaching. It's worth the watch. Hopefully it helps you/us to know how to respond to one another well this summer.
