Welcome, Gathering, and Announcements:

Candle Lighting & Centring:
Territorial Acknowledgement:
We come from many places to this land that many Indigenous people call Turtle Island; the ancestral home of Indigenous peoples. We are heirs together of the legacies of Treaties 6 and 7 and Region 3 of the Metis. May we live with respect and gratitude as we work, worship, and make our home here together.

*Introit: “Yahweh Be Praised” #51 MV

Call to Worship:
(inspired by Isaiah 25:1-9)
Our God is preparing a feast for all people;
a wonderful banquet with vintage wine and gourmet food,
the choicest meats, and lavish desserts.
And the whole world will be invited!
And God will wipe away the tears from every face,
and lift the despair from every heart.
And together, God’s people will proclaim:
This is our God, in whom we place our trust!
Let us rejoice in the salvation God brings!
~ written by Christine Longhurst for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank

*Hymn: “Arise, Your Light is Come” #79 VU

Prayer of Confession

**Sustained silence for personal reflection**

Assurance of Grace
We are the light of the world, by the power of God’s grace.
Our freedom is a gift: receive it fully;
Our purpose is justice: do it rightly;
Our hope is peace: pursue it faithfully;
Our calling is life: live it well.
God is faithful in all things and so it is. Amen.

*Prayer of Thanksgiving:
Today we especially give thanks, O God, for Canada, our home.
We thank you for the many peoples in the mosaic.
Aboriginal sisters and brothers, voyageurs, loyalists, pioneers of the past, refugees and new immigrants of today . This land is blessed with a heritage that is ever-enriching and ever-growing. We thank you for the gifts of creation: lakes, minerals, lush forests, and shimmering prairies. Truly, this land is blessed. We recognize your many gifts, and respond with grateful hearts and lives. Amen.

*Commissioning and Benediction
Friends, we have come from the far corners of the world
to create this community of faith:
welcome as you have been welcomed,
love as you are loved.
And go from this place knowing we are never alone
for we go with God, Source of Love;
Jesus, Love Incarnate;
and the Holy Spirit, Love’s Power. (St. Anselm)
Amen.
